Italy > Tuscany > Lunigiana
Iera (or Jera) is a small and peaceful medieval village perched in the Lunigiana hills. It offers splendid views over the valley and it is surrounded by picturesque woods of chestnut trees. There are approx. 50 local inhabitants. There is a beautiful small church and a short walk through the medieval streets brings you to the remains of an old Roman viaduct and a very pretty stream which flows down the valley to Bagnone. Within the village there is a restaurant which serves beautiful local produce and is open year round. There is abundant wildlife close by. A short drive will bring you to the amazing cities of Pisa, Lucca, Florence and Siena, Any details would do no justice to their beauty, we suggest you just go and absorb the spectacular culture and architecture they have offered for centuries. |
