The nearest beach is at Almirida, approx 7 minutes away by car. Almirida is a laid back resort, popular with couples and families. There are plentiful tavernas and shops in Almirida. The bigger resorts of Kalives and Georgeopoulis are also easily accessible by car. Between the house and Almirida is the lively village of Plaka with it's 3 tavernas all serving excellent food, there are 2 bars in the village square and a very well stocked mini market. Another hotel bar in Plaka village regularly hosts Greek music nights. We recommend car hire (which we can help you to arrange) to get the best out of your holiday at Ilios House as there is so much to see in the area. The beautiful Venetian town of Chania with it's bustling streets and squares is only 30 minutes drive. The famous Samaria Gorge and the White Mountains are nearby (please note we can arrange guided walking for guests staying at the house). The whole area is green even in high summer due to the large number of olive trees and it's spectacular to walk among the olive groves with the sparkling Cretan Sea never far away.

Changeover day is Tuesday to fit in with charter flights to Chania airport from the UK. It may be possible to accept bookings starting on other days - please enquire using the contact details below. The deposit is £50 per week. The balance is payable 6 weeks prior to travel. Payments can be made by cheque, direct bank transfer or by Visa or Mastercard. There is no charge for deposits paid using a credit card but we have to add on 1.5% to cover our additional charges for balances paid by credit card. There is no charge for payments made by debit card.
