Pommard is on the Route des Grand Crus, and to name the neighbouring villages is like reading from a superlative Carte des Vins: Meursault, Volnay, Montrachet, Santenay ... to name just a few. Conveniently, Le Chateau de Pommard is located just 5 minutes walk from the apartment and is visible from the front door. There are numerous opportunities to visit the area's prestigious cellars and enjoy a degustation ... in moderation of course! Village shops & amenities: a boulangerie, boucherie/traiteur, epicerie (general store), post office and pleasant restaurant serving local cuisine, cafe-bar and specialist wine retailer are conveniently all situated within minutes walk of the apartment. The lovely old town of Beaune, centre of the region's winemaking tradition, is just 4km away and rewards the visitor with countless things to see and do. A visit to the magnificent Hotel Dieu is a must. There are several excellent museums, fascinating architecture, many interesting specialist shops and countless cafes and restaurants in which to experience the famous cuisine of the region along with the best burgundies. A colourful Saturday market known throughout the region for its fresh local products, antiques & bric-a-brac is something not to be missed.
The larger towns of Chalon-sur-Saone and Dijon with their wider range of shops and amenities are within approx 20 and 35 minutes drive respectively.
